The Shell Cove Project

The major catalyst for this push into what we now call Nautical Tourism was a decision made by Shellharbour City Council some 20 years ago. With record unemployment caused by a restructure of the nearby steel industry, the Council made a decision to refocus the city towards tourism by creating a new town with a new inshore boatharbour/marina as its major attraction.

The $1.5 billion (AUD) Shell Cove Project is the largest tourist/residential project ever developed by Local Government in Australia and is being positioned to be a pioneer in Nautical Tourism in Australia.
